Career Highlights
Shawn Gann has certainly proved his ability to be an extraordinary rider, as well as a winner in the world of motorcycle drag racing. Gann started his career in motor sports in 1993 at the young age of fifteen, and from that moment on he has shown the world that he could hold his own in this highly competitive sport.
In 1996, Gann entered the AMA/ProStar circuit, racing in select events in the Top Gas category. Although no wins occurred, he placed fourth at the World Finals in Gainesville, Florida to finish out his first year. In December, Gann attended Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School where he took instruction from some of the best to ever enter into motorcycle drag racing, including George Bryce and Angell Savoie.
In 1997, Gann participated in all events on ProStar circuit. After taking the win for the Top Gas category at the Rebel Nationals in Atlanta, the year looked to be a promising one for Gann. He gained several top qualifying positions and finished fourth in two of the following races, leaving him to finish out the year as number two in the points.
In 1998, Gann had his most amazing year in racing thus far. Entering his rookie year in ProStar's Pro Stock class, he literally shocked the crowds. He was runner-up at Richmond, Virginia and Columbus, Ohio, and he became the youngest winner in Pro Stock history when he won the Street Fighter Nationals in Chicago, Illinois. Finished second in the series.
In 1999, Gann finished third in the AMA ProStar Pro Stock Series.
In 2000, Gann finished eighth in NHRA championship point standings despite racing in only 12 events.
In 2001, Gann won at Las Vegas and earned $15,000 by winning the Pro Stock Bike bonus event at Indianapolis; Finished fifth in the final standings in his first full season of competition.
In 2002, Gann earned first two No. 1 qualifying positions of his career; Qualified sixth or higher at all 14 events; had the top speed at four events; recorded career-best speed. Finished fifth in NHRA championship point standings.
In 2003, Gann recorded career-best E.T.; earned second career victory (Englishtown). Finished third in NHRA championship point standings.
In 2004, Gann raced to 2 wins (Chicago, Denver) and 2 runner-up finishes (Atlanta, Indianapolis). Finished fourth in NHRA championship point standings.
